The Dali Lama at Ladakh

The Dali Lama at Ladakh

Original World offers a tour to Ladakh with an opportunity to participate in the Kalachakra Teaching by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as well as attend the ancient Hemis Festival held annually at Hemis Monastery. ‘Kalachakra’ means ‘Wheel of Time’ and is the name of one of the Buddhist deities that represents particular aspects of the Enlightened Mind. It forms a part of a system of teachings and practice conferred by the Buddha to his disciples.

The Hemis Festival commemorates the birth of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The monks, dressed in colorful brocade robes wearing masks, perform sacred dance dramas accompanied by drums, cymbals and long horns. This event is an extraordinary life experience!

Join us for an intimate experience with the people, the culture, the land and the greatest living teacher of Tibetan Buddhism. Prior study of Buddhism not required.
