TRAVEL NEWS: India Simplifies Visa-on-Arrival Process for Tourists

The Indian government has taken optimistic steps to make a visit to the subcontinent even easier for tourists from around the world.

The Hindustani Times reported this month to give visa on arrival using the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travelers from 180 countries starting October 2014. The Bureau of Immigration will set up a website and upon submission of an application, it will email an electronic visa/travel authorization within 2-3 days, allowing the tourist to enter India and also facilitate easier verification at airports. This means that one can apply with related documents and pay the relevant visa fee online. Take a print (E Visa) just like an E Ticket. Carry it with oneself to India. On arrival proceed to special counters E-TVOA (Electronic – Tourist Visa on Arrival) show them the E Visa print and they will stamp a 30 day single entry tourist visa on the passport. This facility will be made available at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Goa and Trivandrum airport.
